rant in italian : disgusting! disgusting! so you put in my 30y old granma's recipe the f**king salad cream...
"You're not gonna like this"
She knew exactly what was about to happen.
Other dude clearly knew as well. Even if this was scripted it was still funny.
He's a regular and they definitely play this stuff up - but I'm not sure it's scripted per se
Nah it's not scripted but you can tell they're fucking with him and it's funny.
The mushrooms comment is one ol' Schofey throws in all the time.
Here is a fun clip when Gino took Phillip and Holly mushroom hunting and got them lost.
Another classic where he tells a story about puttanesca sauce, which apparently literally means prostitute...on national morning tele...though apparently this explanation is a big of a folk tale
This guy's a real character.
I've never seen a clip from this show I haven't liked.
The clips are okay, but it’s on every bloody morning, so they’re bound to get something good once in a while.
Couldn't find any YT links.
I heard that the real story is that in the old days Italian prostitutes were only allowed to go to the market one day each week, so that the “good and decent” women could avoid them. So, by the end of the week the prostitutes had run through all their fresh produce and all the would have left to eat was items with a long shelf life, like pasta, olive oil, garlic, anchovies, dried chilies, capers, and olives.
Gino plays up his mispronunciations and accent. But he is very funny and is a natural comedian, so it's part of his charm.
That clip is my favourite Gino moment.
Nothing will ever beat the shit storm he created by killing, cooking and eating that rat on Im a Celeb for me
didn't he get fined for animal abuse?
The poor animal that they're cooking in this video was abused by adding salad cream to it's recipe, for sure.
As far as I remember it wasn’t actually a wild rat, it had been planted to add to the jungle effect and therefore wasn’t as fearful of humans and easier to be caught. Also they kind of botched killing the poor thing so it suffered unnecessarily.
Think they got off lightly because ITV accepted responsibility for the whole thing.
I seem to remember that it was one of the production crew's pet.
Fucking hell. Imagine taking your rat to work and some bugger eats it.
Damn his grandma's only 30? He looks terrible for his age.
yea that means granny had her first kid at 10-11 right out the gate a good egg that gammy
No you moron, he was 30 when his grandma was born.
the recipe she gave me 30 years ago..
Does salad cream mean sour cream?
No, salad cream is a much more vinegary mayo. It's fairly popular in the UK, though not as much as it used to be in the 70s-80s.
That does sound disgusting tbh
In the US it's basically Marzettis Slaw Dressing. Mayo and vinegar for the most part.
"banger de mash" hahaha
Can we get a petition going to officially change bangers & mash to "banger de mash", sounds so exotic
The way to have a successful campaign is to just start calling it that. There’s two of us now. Wayward ho banger de mash!
rants in italian Thank you for this!
One pinch= kinda serious Two pinch=VAFFANCULO !!!
Etymology Contraction of va' a fa' 'n culo, where fa' and 'n are dialectal variants for fare and in, respectively. Literally “go do [it] in [the] ass”.
(vulgar, slang) fuck you!, fuck off!, go fuck yourself!; get lost!
I will use every fiber of my being to utilize this word in daily vernacular. What a beautiful word. Thanks for this, /u/BillohRly , very cool!
I find that “vafanculo, pezzo di merda” rolls off the tongue of a non-native speaker quite well. Had me feeling like a regular Roman when I started saying it.
You know what they say: when in Rome, start swearing at all the Romans.
Vafan in Swedish is WTF
"Punch, punch. Not pinch. What did I say, I say pinch?"
Watch your hands young man!
He puts on the Italian. He is a born and breed, bold as brass, a Sheffield lad. You can see him being called out on it here
Edit: brass not bass.
I don't know who any of these people are but that was hilarious.
The show where the joke started is called Celebrity Juice. It can be a bit hit and miss but there is some funny shit going on. Loved when Gino is a guest. This is another appearance of Gino on This Morning. Funny as fuck. OP should have posted this one The guy on the left Keith lemon started in a show called BO'SELECTA, which for me is a National treasure
Idk how they get away with some of the shit on celebrity juice. Saw one recently and it was a zoomed in picture they had to guess whether it was an animal or a ballsack. When they zoomed out to reveal the answer, half the time they were slightly censored pics of hardcore gangbangs
then there's the classic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-RfHC91Ewc
Please tell me he has more one-liners like this
Gino D’Acampo is his name and he’s hysterical. He’s now often on Celebrity Juice (game show for celebs) as either team captain or guest and I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard in my life.
Edit: YES I’M SORRY it’s Gino Sheffield D’Acampo. I apologise to everyone I have so deeply offended.
Watch Gordon, Gino and Fred. Gordon Ramsay, Gino and another chef go on an adventure to Scotland, Italy and France.
It's the most hilarious, wholesome TV program ever. 100% recommend.
Oh my god that sounds amazing. I had no idea. thanks for the tip, i’ll be sure to check it out!
Let me tell you it's strong, especially when a Frenchman is pouring it like it's water' lol
God damn, that end... when they started dropping the chairs after clinking glasses... I look like a loon trying not to laugh in the office
Reminds me of high school whenever a computer had a chair like this
Where can I find adults like this? My friends are getting tired of my antics.
Oh my god...it's like The Grand Tour but with food.
I love this.
Edit: Holy crap it's even closer:
Gordon is Jeremy
Gino is Hammond
Fred is James May
....this needs a crossover. NOW.
This is both interesting and hilarious. I would enjoy this just like I enjoy Jerry Seinfeld's comedians in cars getting coffee. Just a completely casual experience. The jokes are raw, the conversation is real, the mood is light. This is the kind of TV I want to see.
It just came out so it should be on ITV to catch up.
How about for us folks across the pond
Watch Gordon, Gino and Fred
How do we watch this in the US?! I just saw a clip and tried to find where to buy some episodes but got nothing.
That was pretty good actually, it had almost a Top Gear vibe, just 3 guys enjoying an adventure.
My sister forceably put this on when i was round when i really wasnt in the mood for watching some lame ass cooking show.
MAN! Within 10 mins. infact, not even 10 mins. The intro. I was hooked. and we watched all 3 episodes at once. Amazing.
The audacity of OP to call him ‘Italian man’ hurts my soul.
He’s Gino fucking D’Acampo. GINO! GINO! GINO!
Hahaha man I love that guy's passion for tradition
The salt made them so happy
That video was great, they died inside watching that asmr video
it's pretty common with anyone who has a distinct gastro identity, I had a friend from AZ and he was DEEPLY offended if someone made "salsa" and put carrots, mangos, or anything not found in more traditional southwestern salsas, also if it lacked heat.
That's a quite used italian way of saying! Although I prefer: "Se mia nonna avesse le ruote sarebbe una carriola" (If my grandmother had wheels she would have been a wheelbarrow).
Scottish version would be "If yer auntie had baws she'd be yer uncle".
I swear to god, there are at least half a dozen languages that are more recognizable to me than Scottish English and I don't speak anything else except English.
Ha, we say something similar in Dutch. If our cat was a cow we could milk it, or my personal favorite, if my Aunty Nun had balls she would be my Uncle Monk.
Yeah the original show him slowly losing his mind, I just posted the part where he loses it
I knew exactly what this link was going to be. I love that clip so much.
If the queen had balls, she’d be king.
How the other guy just walks aside because he knows the Italian chef is about to explode
His look asking about the mushrooms made me think he was riling the chef up, maybe she was doing the same thing idk.
It's Gino d'Acampo and Philip Schofield, very famous here in the UK. They always work together on "this morning" and it generally ends up with gino flipping out, entertaining stuff
Gino is a legend in the UK. He gets riled very easily especially over spaghetti bolognaise as in the UK we tend to trash the original recipe by adding all sorts of things. By the way I have had original bolognaise in Calabria and mine is better!
The other guy? That's the silver fox Phillip schofield
We should just nationalise Philip Schofield at this point
"Italian man loses his mind"
Are you a headline writer for The Sun?
To be fair this dude is intentionally like this, it's why he's good as a presenter. Gino d'Acampo is pretty well liked in the UK.
Bonus hilarity: https://youtu.be/r8T7XvxXAMA
Ramsay woke Gino up by slapping him with his willy: https://youtu.be/2oYQ_ZgdlXQ
"fork whatever you want"
"you roll out the shiiiiiiiit"
"I'm watering de plants with a little bit of wine. Not every day because then they die but once in a while is very good"
"Is me? HELLOOOOOO!!"
Here's a translation on his rant in Italian.
"Disgusting! Disgusting!" Or "Disgraceful, disgraceful"
"You're taking a recipe my grandmother made 30 years ago and you want to add cocksucking sour cream to it?"
The phrase he used in Italian "u cazzi" (this is plural) where I put "cocksucking" varies in translation between dialects and provinces in Italy. "Cazzo" means cock. It could also mean "fucking"
"Add fucking sour cream"
I heard O' cazz' e', which translates to il cazzo di in Italian. He was speaking in Neapolitan.
Isn't that 3 different languages in one?
Hey there! I just wanted to point out that “cazzo” is usually adapted to “fuck” to strenghten the point of a sentence. In this case, the chef wanted to emphasize the subject (sour cream) so the correct translation here would be “[...] want to add fucking sour cream to it?”
Italians do not generally use “cocksucking” in sentences like these, unless we are speaking of people we do not like, but in that case you would head “succhia cazzo / cazzi”.
You understood “u cazz” which is dialect from where Gino is from, and that sometimes confuses people (Italians too!). Hope this clears it up a bit :)
That "Italian man" is Gino D'Acampo
Help an American out! Who is this guy? It seems everyone gets a good laugh from him. Is he satirical?
Not satirical, just a bit over the top. Sometimes he's unintentionally hilarious, other times he hams it up a bit.
Someone help out us Americans...what is 'salad cream'?
Then the reaction is completely justified
I just want to clarify, salad cream in bolognese is not a UK thing. Our reputation for food is bad enough as it is
The only time I've seen anything pasta-like served with sour cream would be chicken paprikash
Beef Stroganoff would be another one.
Am russian, can confirm we will put sour cream (smetanka) on anything
Chilli Con Carne with a dollop of sour cream is quite nice.
With salad cream though this girl is fucked in the head
So essentially, she’s making the english equivalent of “sketti and butter” a la honey boo boo
I am regretting reading this comment and finding out what salad cream is. The guy in the video had an appropriate reaction I would say
Salad cream is a creamy, pale yellow condiment based on an emulsion of about 25–50 percent oil in water, emulsified by egg yolk and acidulated by spirit vinegar.
It may include other ingredients such as sugar, mustard, salt, thickener, spices, flavouring and colouring.
The first ready-made commercial product was introduced in the United Kingdom in the 1920s, where it is used as a salad dressing and a sandwich spread.
Due to the higher cost of ingredients during periods of rationing in the United Kingdom a flavour similar to mayonnaise was achieved in the creation of salad cream.
My nonnina always put "pale yellow condiments" in her Ragu. /s
Closest thing to it in America is Miracle Whip
Someone recently told me that Miracle Whip is technically a salad dressing and I thought they were insane. I guess they weren’t that far off.
Who the fuck puts salad cream on a bolognese sauce
This is Gino https://youtu.be/r8T7XvxXAMA continued guest or British morning chat show. He's also travelled with Gordon Ramsey for cooking shows - absolute awesomeness. He's so hilarious it's unreal
the one where he just walks out with no mic is perfect also i like how he just happens to have mascara in the one of the clips
That last clip oh god I'm rolling over here
My boyfriend is Italian and he gets riled up over that man that breaks spaghetti with his head. Once we were watching some amateur cooking competition video and a girl broke all her spaghetti in half before putting it in the water and he suddenly says, "I HOPE SHE LOSES!"
breaking spaghetti is for animals
I always used to do that but I remember the first time my boyfriend saw me do it he was like "no omg why did you do that it's ruined." And I was like..... The fuck?
Banger de mash or whatever you call it. 😂
I was just on the Mexico subreddit and they were discussing how Americans love to add brown sugar and mayo to traditional recipes
Is Mayo what "salad cream" is? I've been searching through the comments and it's like everyone knows but me.
This is disgusting
This is digusting
You took a recipe that my grandmother made 30 years ago and you put fucking sour cream on it
The guy in the white shirt clearly knew his comments were going to make that Italian guy mad. The way he looked at the camera and smirked was one of the best parts.
The man the myth the legend Philip Scofield
That Italian guy
The other man the other myth the other legend Gino D'Campo
My girlfriend is Italian, going to send her this.
(1) So she can tell me what the fuck he's saying when he goes nuts, and (2) because I want to see her freak out about whatever kind of heresy has been committed too.
Gino Dicampo is so funny. He’s on another show called Celebrity Juice where he lost a bet and had to change his middle name to ‘Sheffield’ which is a city in the UK. Tickles me so much.
ITT Americans trying to figure out what salad cream is
Also British people trying to describe it but not really succeeding. It's pretty hard to describe. Tastes a bit like slightly gone off mayo to me.
The chef in this video is TV chef Gino D'ACampo. He actually spent 2 years in prison when he was in his twenties for burgling Paul Youngs house and stealing some very expensive guitars. Paul Young then proceeded to appear on this TV show many many years later
Che Schifo! Che Schifo!!!
Laugh all you want but this guy is spitting some hard truth right there. This vision on food recipes can and should be drawn out on more fields
It's like when you create a perfect meal with just fresh ingredients and suddenly someone goes "I have this package of gravy".
Last thanksgiving...I was cooking for my in laws for the first time. I'm not a god damned animal so you know, I was making gravy like my great mam and mam showed me because you know, you've got a whole god damned bird there, you should use it.
And MiL comes over with a shitting JAR OF HORMEL GRAVY....this beige slime, and she's like. "Here, for the turkey". And I felt like our Italian friend up there...What she had in that jar was not "gravy", I'd wager it wasn't even meat based.
People are fucking savages.
Thanksgiving turkey gravy ALWAYS STARTS WITH THE DRIPPINGS FROM THE BIRD, GOD DAMNIT!!!!!
See, your mother-in-law has gotten me all worked up now, too.
There's the odd good post in there, but most of it is just comfort food calorie bombs.
comfort food calorie bombs.
Ahh, just like grandma used to make
That title needs to be changed.
"Man from Sheffield loses his mind after someone suggests they put salad cream in his grandmothers bolognese sauce"
