Cave Generator is a replacement for Mojang's tunnel generation algorithm. It grants full control over the shapes, sizes, angles, and other parameters of tunnels and ravines, and even enables you to create your own noise-based cavern generators, applying various world generators and other decorations as you see fit. If that's too much for you to figure out or you just don't care to mess with settings, you can try one of 13 included demo presets, some of which are shown in the album from the OP.
You can help improve it by reporting bugs or suggesting new features, especially including changes to the preset format and ways to reduce learning curve. You can check out the CurseForge page at this link, or stop by the Discord server and let us know what you think. All feedback is welcome.
Is small caves and no ravines an option? Can we finally choose to not have a swiss cheese world?
This is really cool. I notice it can be used with Worley's caves as mentioned on the CurseForge page... how does this work with presets such as the underground forest?
The grass and gravel won't spawn on WC's tunnels. Those are local decorators. Structures, stalactites, pillars, and all of those things will generate in both caves. You could disable the normal tunnel generator that gets used in the underground forest and it might make more sense.
Is this compatible with biome bundle?
Not yet. BB uses Open Terrain Generator, which doesn't run modded cave generators. The plan is to begin implementing CG directly into OTG as soon as it hits release status. Once that happens, MC_Pitman is aware of it and I'm sure one or both of us will edit BB to take advantage of the new features.

Me neither. It's still gonna be a while, but probably not as long as we've waited already. Edit: in the meantime, one of the things I'm concerned about is the number of parameters needed to configure CG being especially cumbersome in OTG. Namely, the ability to have multiple types of tunnels per-biome and things like that. If you have any suggestions, please let me know and it might speed things up when the time comes around.
oh man i dont know i usually just use the presets alongside worleys, but i trust MC_Pitman to do some amazing stuff with your mod so he'd probably be the best person to ask
Wouldn't it be easier (and allow for more mod compatibility) to just have a config option that would make OTG/BB throw the forge cave event that would let other mods take over.
Yeah, but that has to be done by OTG, not Cave Generator. You'll have to talk to PG85 about that one.
And for anyone interested in "stoneblock", Cave Generator is fully compatible (AFAIK) with Superflat Caves -- thanks to /u/person3412 for giving advice and having readable code that made it possible! I've seen a few amazing images of what people have come up with on the discord and it makes me super-excited.

Yeah, definitely. They look nice in that context. You just have to set "wide" to false.
Is it safe to upgrade a server from .12 to .14? I tried to do this, but the server crashed. Should I perhaps delete the existing config? I can post the crash log to the tracker when I get home later.
The most common problem users are getting is with using their old presets. The format and everything is completely different. Take a look at the 0.13 changelog to get a feel for what all has changed. Most of these crashes are because the comments I put in a lot of the old jsons are now illegal characters. You can either remove those or just remove the old presets all together. Let me know on Discord if you need help setting things up.
I just checked out the .13 patch notes, which I skipped earlier because I don't check every version of every mod when I do a mass update. I see that I didn't do step one... I see that the .13 patch notes are at the bottom of the .14 patch notes. Oh well. Perhaps put a warning at the top of the .14 and future versions for people like me who only read the first part of the new patch notes. I also sometimes write code- all users are idiots :) I'll try later to update again and let you know how it goes.
