Sick! Now you need a chunky af reload animation to bring it home
One of my favorite scenes from the movies! Great work!
I really wanted to enjoy it but the Sentinels' behaviour just made no sense which made the whole thing feel slightly ridiculous. Why were they just swarming around randomly instead of heading straight for their targets?
The sentinels were primary there to defend the drills
Which they could do by destroying Zion's weapons instead of swirling around in pointless circles.
I always try to come up with some sort excuse to justify odd behaviors in movies I like.
Maybe... due to the extreme number of communicating units the machines had to act more as a whole than a swarm. Maybe... in order to destroy the bigger guns they needed to remain in a tight formation. Maybe... since they had practically infinite numbers they didn’t give a fuck.
There are probably still flaws but I think it’s fun to try and come up with ideas that fit what we observe. It is science fiction after all.
Lol, I love that movie as well, but I see your point.
Have you seen real life swarms of drones? They are amazing.
because it's a prototype ;)
You should put that on the store immediately, or release the code. Such incredible potential with mechs and turrets such as this. I'm very happy you had this idea.
Two player mech game? One to drive and another to fire?
Two-player VR game is going to be DOA I think!
Dead on arrival?
Looks awesome, very clever implementation. Are you using some kind of swarming algorithm?
Yeah I'm using an altered version of the original boids algorithm by Craig Reynolds
nice! how long did it take to make this?
A week of free time at work. I'm actually working on other game projects but once in a while I make little VR experiments like this
as someone who's working on something with giant robot arms controlled by vr-ik arms, any idea how you'll do the robot arm coordination?
What Trilogy? Matrix is only one movie.
I guess op likes it so much he watched it 3 times in a row?
Can't blame OP, it's a good movie.
That looks like it could be fun. Keep working on that.
I didn’t even realize how much I wanted something like this.
I am mad jealous all of the sudden, this is freaking awesome. Gotta make it into a full fledged Zion Defense game lol.
I'm 50/50 on this.
I hate you for "knocking it up" (I'm dying to crack unity).
I also love it.
That's pretty cool. A while back I built a physical pivoting turret mount that I attached my vive controllers to, and made a quick shooting prototype to go with it, but I never took it any further than that. Maybe I should look into that again.
Missile Command VR?
How'd you get the bullets to light up like that? I've been trying forever to get something like that to work. Care to share your secrets?
Try to look up the Post process volume. Under bloom just boost that shit.
Step 1) emissive material give it some hdr love
Step 2) boost that shit
Step 3) hope you're in linear color space and have HDR toggled up in yo cameras dating life
Wow, that is awesome! I have only played games like that at demos at microsoft stores and things!
Is the gun on the tower also slaved to your controls?
Seriously nice work, though.
Makes me want to buy a VR headset!
Bomb work. Love the violence of the shooting and the way the machines move and swarm.
Looks fun. Would buy. Doesn't even need to piggyback off of the Matrix art style.
Well if it isnt the one thing that would get me to go for vr...
What a freaking awesome use of VR. This looks like so much fun to play!
VR tower defence game in the making! Someone with the skills should be all over that.
I need it.
This is a great use of VR. I see so many games in VR that could have been better implemented with a controller and tight ux. Not this one
Post it on the Oculus Reddit.
That is so cool! Is it multiplayer? I would love to murder thousands of sentinels with a buddy. Have you considered asymmetrical multiplayer too? Just thinking about the way that some people are shooting and some people are reloading in the films and the coordination there. Not sure if it would be fun (I feel like you'd always want to be the gunner) but just as a thought experiment.
