It would be interesting for people to have to put a sticker like this on their vehicle if they get a ticket or arrested for any sort of reckless driving.
Not a fully fleshed out thought, but something to let other drivers know they need to be watched with extra care.
Kind of like how 2 DUI convictions in Ohio, or one DUI conviction with a really high BAC gets you bright yellow plates with red numbers in Ohio?
Wow. I had no idea Ohio did that. It's actually pretty awesome.
Until you realize they're letting people with 2 DUI convictions back on the road.
Well, people with DUI convictions usually can drive with restrictions, regardless. This is just to alert other drivers, and police, that the person possibly driving that car has a history of DUI.
I suppose they do let them back on the road in my state too. However a first time DUI offense comes with a misdemeanor charge, up to $1k fine, 48 hours to 6 months in jail, six month suspended license, and three years probation after that. Additional charges get several years of suspensions on your license and even longer jail times. I'm actually amazed they let people keep their license at all after the 2nd or 3rd DUI.
i know people who are on their 4th or 5th DUI who still have the privilege of driving. i’m not really sure what it takes to have your license permanently revoked if 5 DUIs doesn’t do it
This happened in a nearby town I used to live in 9 years ago. The guy had 8 fucking DUIs, 6 felonies, and 23 misdemeanor convictions. How he was ever allowed to be anywhere near a vehicle again is incomprehensible to me. He was sentenced to 15 years to life for the second degree murder of the kid he hit among several other charges.
i’ve always assumed that a lot of people who have had their licenses suspended/revoked because of DUIs (or for any other reason i guess) still drive anyway. it’s not like anyone can really stop them unless they’re behind bars/have their vehicle impounded/have an interlock device installed. if people really want to drive bad enough they will and awful shit like that happens. it’s sad. glad that guy is finally in prison.
edit: whenever i see local news stories like that i always look the perpetrators up on my county’s circuit clerk website because i’m curious and it’s really common to see multiple charges of driving on a revoked or suspended license so it must happen a ton everywhere else too
Public transportation isn't very good in a lot of places and people have to commute to work.
Yeah, if they're going to be on the road anyway, may as well mark them so we can all be aware.
Should do it for people who are caught texting and driving as well, imo.
They really should have a hefty penalty for that, I've seen people I was sure were drunk driving until I got up next to them and they had their face buried in their phone going 75 on the highway.
Damn! In Arizona it’s a felony for 1st time offense, $10,000 fine and a minimum week in jail! These other states are lenient.
i always see billboards here in illinois warning potential drunk drivers that a DUI will cost them upwards of $10,000 but i’m not sure if that’s a fine + court costs + legal fees or what. it seems like judges hand out punishment arbitrarily - a 4th DUI conviction SHOULD result in 3-7 years in prison but i know a girl who got her 4th DUI last year and was given a slap on the wrist for the 4th time. still drives, still goes to work, probably still drives drunk. meanwhile one of my boyfriend’s friends got his 1st DUI 6 months ago, had his license suspended for that long, and now has to have an interlock device installed in his vehicle for at least 5 months. it doesn’t make any sense
We call those “party plates”.
Also, in Indiana, you know who all the drunkards are because they’re scooting around in underpowered mopeds.
We call them “party plates” in my hometown.
They're often called party plates.
Any DUI conviction at all should ban you from driving for a long time.
Yeah but that's not realistic.
Using cell phone while driving in my Province nets you a 3 day license suspension and $672 fine...plus your insurance goes up.
Ontario's made it something like a $1000 fine as well.
So uh..... why are they giving their license back to repeat offenders?
...this isnt a joke? Are you fucking kidding me? A single DUI should be permanent loss of license with no ability to renew.
I don't completely agree with that. I have a friend that went and had a drink not even an hour before his 21st birthday (definitely a stupid thing to do) and then got pulled over. Had a BAC of like .02 or some ridiculously low number. Turned 21 in a jail cell and earned himself a lovely DWI charge.
It should be plastered all over your car. Not only to alert other drivers but also to shame you into driving better
Judging by people's actions and the internet, I think few people have any sense of shame these days.
Lets hope car insurance agencies dont here that idea
Husband probably put it there.
Smart guy, lol
Well she did warn you, so it's kinda your fault.
I noticed it too! She bought her car at King Acura
I respect her honesty and would use this information accordingly if I saw said sticker on the streets.
Somehow, I suspect that she's not the one who put that sticker on.
Having that sticker does not give you the pass to be a bad driver.
I encountered someone like this on my way home one day. They "stopped" after pulling well past a stop sign into traffic on a busy street, swerved over into oncoming traffic, etc. She was just staring at her phone while I guess driving with her peripheral vision. It was more blatant and scary than I have otherwise ever seen. I pulled onto a side road and let her get well away from me. I didn't want her crazy driving anywhere near me.
Well, at least she is honest
No, the sticker is honest. She's an idiot.
Technically she's right
Can't even be mad at that, she let you know beforehand.
Thanks for the warning!
When an idiot driver knows they’re bad but puts a sticker on their car instead of actually changing their bad behavior. Yup, that fixes everything.
So, I'm thinking Secretary of Transportation?
Atleast she is honest... :/
At least she's honest.
It’s okay she already warned you
At least she's honest!
A stack of these & a stack of "CAUTION BAD PARKER" stickers kept in your car to be stuck on the vehicles of your choice as needed. The kind that does not come off with out shredding. Realllllly hard to get off. We have some special purpose ones at work that can't be peeled off at all. You have to use a razor blade & even then they come off in tiny particles & are super sticky.
This happened to me the other day except their decal had the audacity to say “be nice”
Is this by any chance in Charlotte? Think I’ve seen the same car being driven by an idiot the other day
Sunny King? You in Alabama or Georgia?
I need this sticker for some lady in a gold Highlander on my daily commute. I’d slap that sucker right over her bumper sticker, just like someone did to this person
How you take the picture OP
I need one of these
At least she’s honest
Truth in advertising
It’s funny until it’s true
Report her licence plate. They'll find her.
Well, at least she's self-aware!
Edit: words are hard.
I always love the people who complain about other drivers, mention a phone as an issue, and proceed to post something that they themselves had to use their phone for as if they are somehow justified in their bad behavior because the other person was being bad.
When you assume you make an a$$ of your self. You don't know if those pics are from a phone, a camera or a still from a dash cam & posted later. It's not like everyone is madly posting on reddit the very second something happens from there cars. Sheese! Take a pill.
It's not like everyone is madly posting on reddit the very second something happens from there cars.
That's pretty much everyone nowadays. On any social media or sharing with friends. I'm confident they were using their phone while driving.
Needs a bigger sticker, maybe with some cautionary lights on it.
Well. At least she warns people?
Aye it’s a driver from Birmingham!
For lack of a better word
Obviously it’s your fault because she already put a caution on her car.
